Wild Horse Children's Theater presents kids' dance, acting workshops

August 8, 2008

Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents an exciting 2-hour workshop geared to students ages 8 and up who love to dance. In this workshop you will learn the Emmy award winning choreography from the hit show “So You Think You Can Dance”. Three diverse routines in modern, jazz and Broadway styles will be taught. Some dance/movement experience is recommended but is not required. If you are auditioning for “Seussical, Jr.”, this workshop will also help to get you “in shape” for dancing and allows you to get familiar with a variety of dance styles. Sat., August 23 from 9-11:00 a.m. The cost of this workshop is $30.00.

Guest instructor, Sierra Scott, is a professional dancer and member of Actor’s Equity. Currently living in NYC, she has performed around the world and credits include the first national tour of “Oklahoma”, “Cats”, and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, among others. Most recently Sierra has been performing with Fresh Talent Live, a company that brings students from all over the country to NYC to learn from Broadway performers. Sierra has also been dancing in shows around the country with the dance company, La Clique. She has taught dance master classes around the country and at studies around NYC. Sierra holds a B.A. degree in Musical Theater from Webster Theatre Conservatory.

“Auditioning for Commercials and TV” will focus on the difference between auditioning for theater and film, and will incorporate actual on-camera experience and helpful tools for auditioning. Each student will have the opportunity to read copy from actual commercials on camera and will receive feedback. Sat., August 23 from 11-12 noon. The cost of this workshop is $20.00

Guest instructor, Nicolas Aliberti has experience in a wide range of projects from TV, film, print and commercial work. He has been in nationwide ads for MTV and Intel. He most recently starred in the Cambridge University Press “Touchstone Series” of films. He has had experience working with and auditioning for the biggest casting directors in NYC. Nick has a BFA in Acting from Webster University and has extensive theatrical credits as well and recently played the lead role of Elvis in “All Shook Up”.

Want to attend both workshops! We have a deal for you! Students can attend both workshops for $40.00.

The workshops will be held at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada. Space is limited. Sign up now! To sign up or for more information call 887-0438 or email wildhorsearts@aol.com.
