Art Bite: Dr. John Diamond on the Healing Properties of Medicinal Mushrooms
Fri., August 15 at 12 p.m.
Mushrooms are central to Chris Drury’s artwork, representing both the powerfully creative and destructive forces of the natural world. Join Dr. John Diamond, M.D., for a discussion of the importance of mushrooms in medicine around the world. Tickets: $5 / $4 NMA members. The Nevada Museum of Art Wine and Food Tasting Benefit
Fri., August 15 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The NMA presents its 24th annual wine tasting in the beautiful courtyards at International Game Technology. The premiere wine tasting in Northern Nevada features an extensive wine list as well as food from over 20 local restaurants, hotels, and caterers. Purchase tickets online at www.nevadaart.org/tickets or at the NMA admissions desk. Tickets purchased before Friday, August 15: $65 NMA members, $75 non-members. Tickets purchased on Friday, August 15 and at the door: $85 per person, regardless of NMA membership.

KUNR Sunday Jazz Brunch: David Grantham and band
Sun., August 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Enjoy live jazz while dining from the à la carte brunch menu from Café Musée. Admission to the KUNR Jazz Brunch is free and Café Musée menu prices range from $1 to $15. Regular admission fees will be charged for guests planning to visit the galleries.

hands/ON! Sunday Family Program: Clay Mushrooms
Sun., August 31 at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Families will create a mushroom sculpture to take home using air-dry clay after taking a look at Chris Drury’s mushroom-inspired art. Admission to hands/ON! Sunday Family program is FREE due to sponsorship from the City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission, Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The hands/ON! Sunday Family Program includes four one hour sessions beginning at noon, 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm. Space is limited.

Guided Tours
Ongoing Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Ongoing Sundays at 1 p.m. Ongoing Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Join the NMA on Saturdays, Sundays and Thursdays for a guided tour of the feature exhibition, architecture and collections. Free with admission. Reservations not required, early arrival is recommended for each tour.

Hours
The NMA is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; open late on Thursdays until 8 p.m. Closed Mondays and national holidays. $10 adults, $8 seniors/students, free for NMA members.
