Little Shop of Horrors is coming to Carson City, Aug. 2-11

Brewery Arts Center's Outdoor Summer Series will present a local production of the world-famous musical

June 27, 2007

Little Shop of Horrors, one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, is playing at the Brewery Arts Center (BAC), August 2 through 11. The production is part of the BAC's Outdoor Summer Series, and audiences will enjoy an evening of food, beverage and top-rate entertainment.

Little Shop of Horrors is a hilarious musical about Seymour, a down-and-out floral assistant, who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers Seymour fame and fortune in exchange for feeding her growing appetite.

The local production of Little Shop of Horrors includes some of the area's most talented actors, including Domenic Procaccini II, who recently starred in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Andie Anderson, who mesmerized audiences in the Brewery Arts Center's production of The Last Five Years. Additionally, award-winning actor Rich Garrett will reprise his role of the Little Shop of Horrors dentist, which he played to critical acclaim in Washington State.

"Little Shop of Horrors is the beginning of the Brewery Art Center's summer stock theatre," says John Procaccini, the BAC's Executive Director. "We're making outdoor theatre an annual event, because what better way to enjoy quality entertainment than under the stars and clear skies of beautiful Northern Nevada."

Little Shop of Horrors plays August 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Brewery Art Center's outdoor amphitheater. Tickets are $15. BAC members, seniors and students receive a $3 discount. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.BreweryArts.org or call (775) 883-1976.

Upcoming performances at the Brewery Arts Center include the fourth annual Jazz & Beyond, August 17-19, co-presented by the Mile High Jazz Band. This free musical festival features world-renowned artists such as Cherry Poppin Daddies, Sol'Jib, Yellowjackets and Maria Muldaur, plus food, beer and wine tasting, art vendors, dancing, activities and much more.
