Great people, great memories and big fun are what bring back more than 50 percent of the seasonal employees to Sierra at Tahoe. And now, with winter just around the corner, you can make your own great memories as an employee at this family oriented snowsport resort.
It takes more than 800 employees to operate Sierra at Tahoe, a successful ski and snowboarding resort since 1968. And before the start of the winter season, Brittany Clelan, director of human resources at the resort, needs to fill more than 400 positions. "We are looking for enthusiastic people who enjoy high customer contact and love the mountains in winter with the crisp air and clear skies " said Clelan. "And since we need to fill positions in every department and at every skill level, there is a good chance that you may be the right person
for us."
Sierra at Tahoe prides itself in placing the employee as its first
priority, an enviable position for both new and returning employees. "Management at Sierra at Tahoe empowers employees with the right skills
and tools so that they are able to make the best decisions to take care of our guests," said Clelan. "We are passionate in this goal, and our
employees know that they are respected and valued. "This happiness carries over to our guests. Happy employees make happy customers," she said.
Marketing and demographic figures indicate that Sierra at Tahoe attracts young adults and families. With 2,000 skiable acres that are easy to navigate, 10 chairlifts, and an outstanding staff, this medium-sized mountain has won the reputation as a premium family resort. Not only is the atmosphere casual and comfortable, Sierra at Tahoe is hip and trendy. "We have guests that started coming to our mountain with their families when they were children, but now that they are older and on their own, they still choose us," said Clelan. "Sierra at Tahoe is the "in" place to be, and that atmosphere is generated by our employees."
Wages at Sierra at Tahoe are competitive and fair, said Clelan, and even seasonal employees are eligible for an unbelievable Benefit and Privilege Package, including a pass for the employee and dependents, free ski/snowboard clinics and lessons, discounts on food and retail items, and they are eligible to elect AHL's Mini Medical Insurance which is a limited benefit plan. "We also provide uniforms and complimentary tickets," said Clelan. "With free shuttle service to and from work and discounts on rentals, Sierra at Tahoe offers one of the best Benefit and Privilege Packages in the industry."
Potential employees must be people oriented and passionate about snowsports. Sierra at Tahoe offers not only full time positions, but also weekend and on-call positions in several departments, not to mention a few year-round positions. "An example of a part time position would be an avid skier that has a professional job, but still wants to pursue their passion and be a ski bum in a second-life," said Clelan. "Part time employment depends on the department and the job. The best way to find out a job's requirements is to call us or stop by our Hiring Fair in October," she said.
There are several ways to apply for a position at Sierra at Tahoe. Walk-in applicants are always welcome, and completed applications can be dropped off or faxed. Potential employees can also apply by accessing the employment area of the Sierra at Tahoe website at www.sierratahoe.com. "However, the best time to apply will be during our Hiring Fair in October," said Clelan. "Applicants will be able to meet the supervisors, and the supervisors will do a lot of 'on spot' interviewing. This is where we will be doing the bulk of our hiring."
This year's Hiring Fair will be held at Sierra at Tahoe's main lodge on
Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sierra at Tahoe is located just minutes from Lake Tahoe off Highway 50 on
Sierra at Tahoe Road. "If your passion is snowsports, Sierra at Tahoe is your opportunity to work, ride, and play this winter," said Clelan.
